Demo Mode is the guided exhibition layer of the competency stack. Learners watch annotated 3D sequences, synchronized UI states, and instructor-authored checkpoints without manipulating the scene freely. The runtime locks critical parameters—implant trajectory, tissue response, instrument constraints—so the narrative stays clinically accurate while still feeling interactive through camera choreography, layer toggles, and timed callouts.
Technically, Demo Mode streams pre-validated state graphs from lightweight glTF or JSON scene descriptors, minimizing GPU load on ward laptops and standalone headsets. Pedagogically, it establishes shared mental models before hands-on practice: every viewer sees the same sequence, terminology, and safety framing, which is essential for distributor onboarding and executive briefings.
Practice Mode
Practice Mode unlocks constrained interaction: learners manipulate instruments, select procedure stages, and receive real-time hints when their actions drift from the authored SOP. Input is scored against tolerances—angles, order of steps, dwell time in sterile zones—while the engine logs telemetry for instructor review.
The pedagogical goal is deliberate repetition with immediate feedback, not examination pressure. Practice Mode supports branching remediation (replay a single stage, swap implant size, compare alternate approaches) so residents and field teams can build muscle memory in a fail-safe browser or HMD sandbox.
Exam Mode
Exam Mode removes coaching overlays and hinting. The same simulation kernel runs unassisted; scoring rubrics evaluate completion time, precision bands, checklist adherence, and critical safety events. Results export to LMS or quality systems as structured JSON for audit trails.
Exam Mode is how organizations certify competency at scale—one authored simulation, many parallel sittings—without tying up senior surgeons for every assessment. Thresholds align to internal credentialing or device certification requirements you define during implementation.
